The launch of the crushing and screening project within the Ga-Chaba Village is more than just a business venture for Acifra Ready Mix Concrete. It’s a project that aims to elevate this small community’s living standards by offering a platform for skills transfer and encouraging financial sustainability within the community.

Ga-Chaba Village is one of 42 traditional communities that fall under the Mapela Traditional Council, made up of about 500 households, and is closely situated to the Anglo American and Mogalakwena Platinum Mine.

But even with so much wealth surrounding this small community, it is unfortunately still described as impoverished due to its severe lack of resources and economic activities.

Ga-Chaba is riddled with social ills that have resulted from the community not benefiting from the mining activities that take place in the area, due to lack of expertise and community engagement.

Acifra Ready Mix Concrete, therefore, seeks to remedy this crisis through this crushing and screening project.

To mark this auspicious venture, a soil-turning event will be staged in Ga-Chaba on September 30th as they mark a beginning that will transform the lives of many generations to come.

According to Acifra’s Chief Executive Officer Governor Mononyane, the project took a little under three years to complete due to the required compliance stages and acquiring a mining permit from the Department of Minerals Energy and Resources.

“On a daily basis, we read about how companies come and dictate their own terms within communities without proper consultation and just get away with it. But for us, it was all about making a difference. When we talk about Ubuntu, we need to be the ones who practice it,” adding that whatever tonnage that will be sold, part of the profit will go into the community’s coffers regulated by the Ga-Chaba Communal Property Association.

This project will create ample employment opportunities for the locals while also addressing the issue of small and medium enterprises economic development that have been non-existent for the longest time.

This promising partnership between Acifra Ready Mix Concrete and the Ga-Chaba Village marks the beginning that will transform many lives and of generations to come. This is a historic milestone achievement.
